Mary Ann and I flew out of Hong Kong leaving our hotel on a Friday morning around 7 AM. Everything we read stated that the easiest and cheapest way to get to the airport is the Hong Kong Airport Express.
In order to get to Kowloon Station we still needed a taxi. However, our English speaking taxi driver said to take the taxi as it would be quicker and about the same cost. This wasn’t a ploy to get us to use his taxi as the traffic going out of Kowloon looked very light. The taxi driver was correct as we easily got to the airport with little issue.
The next time we fly in or out of Hong Kong we still may take the Airport Express. Many times we were driven through Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong by the factory owners and their vehicles. Traffic was nuts and it sometimes took hours to get where we needed to go. When in doubt take public transport.
