Mary Ann and I learned a few things while traveling to China, so every week I thought I would give a tip that would be helpful to anyone traveling to China.

For many years Mary Ann and I would travel light to every destination we would go to and we thought it should be the same for China.  Good thing we did.  As you can see in the picture below we carried one (not so big) “rolly” suitcase and a carry-on.  I had a small backpack and Mary Ann had a little larger carry on that housed her computer.

If you view our China video (see below) you can see we jumped to many places very quickly.  This was done by car, train, and planes.  Especially with the train stations (as nice and new as they are) you didn’t always have a escalator or elevator to choose from and even if there was the mass of humanity would make you chose the easier route of dragging your stuff down some stairs.  Of course some factory offices liked to be in older elevator-less building four stories up.  You don’t always want to leave your stuff unattended on a lower floor.

If your goal is to go to one place like Shanghai or Hong Kong and shop, then having more luggage could be fine.
